30 years ago, on my only trip to Greece, there were two things, gastronomically, that I loved: the Tzatziki and the pita bread. I like pita bread more, which is not like Arabic that opens and can be filled. I leave it for another recipe.
I brought a Greek cookbook (they have it in all the languages you can imagine) and today I present the Tzatziki. It is a Greek yogurt salad with cucumber, garlic, and vinegar. It is like a sauce but the Greeks (in my Greek cookbook) classify it as a salad
Here I accompany the Tzatziki with MariƱeiras cookies that are great.

Ingredients

  • 450 g yoghurt Greek
  • 1 cucumber
  • 3 clove garlic
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 3 tbsp olive oil extra virgin
  • salt
  • pepper

Step by step instructions

  • Peel and grate the cucumber. Drain and reserve.
  • Peel and crush the garlic cloves. Reserve.
  • Add the drained cucumber and crushed garlic to the yogurt. Mix.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of vinegar and 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Serve cold or at room temperature.
