  • 200 g macaroni
  • 100 g grated cheese
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 300 ml milk
  • salt
  • pepper
  • olive oil

Step by step instructions

  • Cook the macaroni in plenty of salted water and a splash of oil until al dente. Drain and reserve
  • Meanwhile, make the sauce. In a saucepan melt the butter and add the cornstarch stirring to form a roux.
  • Whisk in the milk, a little at a time, and stir constantly until it thickens a bit.
  • Add salt and pepper.
  • Add half of the grated cheese and stir until it is completely melted.
  • Mix the macaroni with this sauce and put on a baking dish.
  • Sprinkle over the rest of the grated cheese.
  • Gratin until the cheese is golden and melted.
